Summer School

The IARC Summer School is a fantastic opportunity to stimulate cancer research, improve scientific knowledge, and develop collaborations among researchers worldwide.

The IARC Summer School 2025 started on 12 May and is being delivered as blended training programmes, combining online learning with remote and in-person classes. The hybrid format offers the best of remote learning and the unmatched value of relationships formed during face-to-face events and their effect on boosting network-building and future collaborations.

Two modules are again being offered: “Introduction to Cancer Epidemiology” and Implementing Cancer Prevention and Early Detection”. Both will comprise a preparatory work phase online, followed by a 1-week period of live sessions at IARC, enabling epidemiologists, statisticians, physicians, oncologists, and other public health specialists to learn and benefit from IARC’s expertise.

The Summer School also offers a unique learning experience in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. This year, the Summer School is welcoming more than 70 participants from 43 countries, bringing their diverse profiles and backgrounds, to foster a truly collaborative spirit.

IARC Learning is also very pleased to host during the same period the Global Initiative for Cancer Registry Development (GICR) on 16– 20 June. This year, the GICRNet workshop aims train regional trainers and will focus on cancer registry assessment.
