Environment and Child Health International Consortium (ECHIG) annual meeting 

Dr Shoji Nakayama will visit IARC to participate in the annual meeting of the Environment and Child Health International Group (ECHIG) on 15–16 September 2025 hosted by the IARC Environment and Lifestyle Epidemiology Branch. It is our pleasure to announce that Dr Nakayama will give a seminar titled “Environment and Health – Beyond Associations”. He will present the Japan Environment and Children’s Study (JECS) and discuss its collaborations with other birth cohorts as well as the path forward.

Short biography 

Dr Shoji Nakayama is the Deputy Director of the Japan Environment and Children’s Study Programme Office as well as an Adjunct Professor at St. Luke’s International University and the University of Tsukuba, Japan. Dr Nakayama is a lead exposure scientist for the Japan Environment and Children’s Study (JECS), which is a longitudinal birth cohort study involving 100 000 mothers and children. He is devoted to human biomonitoring research and environmental health. Exposome research is his most recent activity.
