Never heard of pickleball before? 

Pickleball is a mix of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It’s a fun, friendly sport suitable for all ages. Played on a small court with a solid paddle and a light, perforated ball, it’s all about rallies, movement, and enjoyment – while doing your body some good! Coordination, cardio, balance: it covers everything without putting strain on your joints. Accessible to everyone, it’s also a great way to stay active and share warm, social moments. 

The Bugey Pickle Open: France’s flagship pickleball event 

Organized by Ambarrois Tennis Club, the Bugey Pickle Open has become a national reference in just two editions. This French Tennis Federation-sanctioned tournament brings together nearly 300 players of all skill levels in a spirit of healthy and inclusive competition. For three days, the Plaine de l’Ain Gymnasium in Ambérieu-en-Bugey will host 12 indoor courts for singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches. 

Beyond the sport, the event aims to: 

• provide a high-quality, well-organized competition, 

• promote pickleball to the general public, and 

• create a major regional event in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
